Emma is going on a trip with a friend to their summerhouse in the south of Norway. They will be travelling for many hours in the car and they will be back in a forthnight - that's a long time to be away from mom and dad! So I thought I'd sew her a blanket - small enough to cuddle with in the car (I know she is almost 11 but she loves hugs and cuddles).
I had a charm pack of Hideaway and I used 30 of them on the front with a white border of varying widhts around it so it's like an offsett logcabin border. As I didn't plan this one out it ended up being 33 1/2 inch by 34 1/2 inch - almost square. I pieced with Aurifils 60wt in the bobbin and 50 wt on top - my favorite piecing threads. I quilted with straight lines and with Aurifils 40 wt 2024 white on top and in bobbin. For the backing I used a solid light aquacolored cotton fabric and a turquoise for the binding. I finished the whole quilt in 3 days.
Emma has started making a pillow with the leftover charms but she didn't have time to finish it.
xx. Kirsten
